I have never been in a 4 hr class before...until I enrolled in my summer class this year. It meets from 6PM-10PM every Thursday for 9 weeks. I wasn't sure if I could sit in a classroom for that long, but at least a lot of the work is computer-based. I have a good professor and a good group for the group work that this class has. I just never thought I'd be able to manage a 4 hr class before. My longest class before was 3 hrs and that one was torture. Perhaps it is who you have as a professor that makes the difference.
Sure, I am drained by the time 10PM rolls around on Thursdays, but I am doing well in the class and I do feel productive. However, I wish that 1 single class didn't cost so much. I don't get why college classes are so expensive. This one class that I am in is going to end up costing me about $864...for *1* class. No wonder college students are so far in debt by the time they are done at universities. I think states should lover the credit hr costs for their universities. Most salary jobs require college degrees these days, but by the time people get these salary jobs, they are so far in debt that they spend years of their salaries getting student loans paid off. I honestly don't think that is fair. I am very fortunate not to have any debt right now, but I can see how easy it is to acquire student loans and how long it takes to get college paid off.
So, while college is worth it. Why not drop the prices a bit?

Mistakes
I firmly believe that people make mistakes in life. Whether they are small mistakes or big mistakes....nobody is perfect. I've made my fair share of judgment errors and I think that a person can only "pay" so much for a mistake that is made. Now, don't confuse this with choices...because choices are thought out and planned. Mistakes are errors in thinking that cause a large mess. People like me beat themselves up enough over mistakes that we know what we messed up on and what needs to be fixed or avoided in the future.
I see good people raked over the coals for an error in thinking...or a bad choice. Everyone makes mistakes and, again, nobody is perfect. Does it make us bad people if we mess up? No...it makes us human. It isn't healthy or good to constantly feel bad about a mistake that you cannot take back. I wish that was true because I'd gladly step in a time machine and fix all of my past errors.
Sadly, that isn't possible and we have to deal with our mistakes and errors in thinking and hopefully one day, we can move past it.

Passing Time
I've discovered that in the summer I have more free time. I want to do something productive, so I have decided to do some reading and biking around. I figured it would be more productive than sitting inside all day on my sofa and such. So far, I've read an entire book (and I'm not much of a reader lol) and have gotten lots of miles on my bike (which I was never a biker before). So hopefully, I can find other things to do that make me feel accomplished this summer.
